30 Days of Harry Potter

Day #30: What effect has Harry Potter made on your life and how much does it mean to you?

Harry Potter. It means my life. I seriously can’t even remember the days before Harry Potter happened. Everything in my life has some kind of significance and/or relevance to Harry Potter, even little things like picking up a pen to write (I always think, wouldn’t it be cool to write with a quill?) or asking my teacher for permission to go to the bathroom (I ask them, “May I go to the Chamber of Secrets?” and they automatically know what I’m talking about).

It has been my guide through life, and no, I am not exaggerating. For example, when I try to make up my mind about something, or when I’m stuck in a situation where I have no clue what I’m supposed to do, I think, “What would Harry do?” and I relate my situation to the ones Harry’s had, and in the end, I end up making the right decision.

Or when something bad happens and everybody else breaks down and just lets people who are in the wrong get their way, I go, “What the fuck are you sitting around here for? Do something about it!” and if they don’t, I do it myself, because if there’s one thing Harry Potter taught me, it’s that I have to fight for what I believe in and for what I think is right. Like Hermione; people try to put her down simply because she was born to non-magical parents, but she never sat around and waited for something to happen, she made things happen. She’s not called the Brightest Witch of Her Age for nothing.

Now that there’s only thirty days left until the final film, I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t imagine still being around if Harry Potter isn’t. Nothing will ever be the same. But that’s what Harry Potter is about, isn’t it? Moving forward when everything else feels like it’s ending. But it’s not ending. Not really.

Because Harry will never be gone. Not as long as those who remain are loyal to him.
